Maths Week 5 Term 3 2021 Expanded numerals

Another thing we have been  learning in maths is how to solve word problems involving combinations of things. You had to be able to write addition equations showing as many different   combinations as we could.  Some people found it was useful to do your figuring out using a table. But not the kind of table you eat off: - a mathematical table.

Here is my work.

PROBLEM

Manea finds some bugs in the playground and puts them in a jar for the day. She finds a total of 48 bugs. Some of them are red, some are yellow, some are orange, and some are  black. How many of each color bug could she have found?

Find at least 5 answers and show your work!

 This week one thing we have been  learning in maths is how to write expanded numbers. Another way of saying this is ‘expanded form’ or ‘expanded notation’. They all mean the same thing. It’s like you have to break the numbers up into their place value parts and then put + symbols in between them. Example:

7239 =7000+200+30+9.

Here is my work.

NUMBER OF THE DAY

36https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2014/03/25/17/01/ladybird-297875_960_720.png

Write 5 equations which all have the answer 36. Start by writing an equation which shows 36 as an expanded numeral.

30 + 6 = 36

30+1+5=36

6x6=36

36-0=36

72 divided by 2 =36
